Support for parents of twins and multiples in Melbourne

NIMBA (Northern and Inner Multiple Birth Association Inc) is a group of families who have all had multiple births and live in the northern and inner suburbs of Melbourne, Naarm. We provide information, practical advice and support to families of multiples.

When you join NIMBA, you and your family will have the opportunity to form friendships and share the joy and challenges of raising twins, triplets or more.
NIMBA was founded in November 1987. NIMBA is a not-for-profit, volunteer run organisation. Our organisation is inclusive and provides opportunities and practical support for families with twins and triplets.  
 
Joining NIMBA for a small annual fee gives you access to the activities, support and resources. In addition, you are automatically granted membership to the national body, the Australian Multiple Birth Association.

The Nimba community acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung as the Traditional Owners of the lands and waters on which our current members reside, and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

For more than 60,000 years, Wurundjeri families raised their children on this Country, building the kind of community that makes that possible. Among those children, across countless generations, were twins and multiples – and long before NIMBA existed, this Country already knew what it means to build a village around a family raising more than one child at once.

We are a small part of a very long story of community care. We are grateful to gather on this Country, and to carry that tradition forward in our own way.

City of Yarra run a families of multiples playgroup every Thursday from 10am - 12.00pm at Bargoonga Nganjin North Fitzroy Library. Multiples of all ages welcome, as well as older or younger siblings! Located in the upstairs playroom, there’s plenty of indoor and (covered) outdoor space perfect for kids of all ages. A great wet weather activity with plenty of toys, trikes, walkers, cars and even a slide! Bathroom and change facilities on site and a small kitchenette for food prep as well. Bring your Bubs or Bumps along to chat all things twin life at our next catch up with other parents (and parents-to-be) of young multiples aged 0-24 months. Find solidarity with fellow parents in the baby-stage, share tips and tricks for managing multiples with new parents-to-be and meet our lovely community! Come along to our NIMBA Moonee Valley Playgroup and connect, chat and play with other families of multiples. All ages and siblings are welcome! We’ll have mats and toys for babies, as well as plenty to keep the bigger kids entertained. The playgroup has a large, well-equipped indoor space with: A play kitchen Books and a cosy reading area Arts and crafts table with supplies Dress-ups Two separate toilets Kitchen and change table facilities If the weather is dry, we’ll open the doors and make the most of the secure, fenced outdoor play area. Outside you’ll find a bike track around a large sandpit, a small climbing frame, and plenty of sandpit toys and trikes available from the shed. ☕ Tea, coffee and snacks will be available. Please bring a full morning tea for the kids if needed. 📍 Location: Mark St Early Years Centre, 31 Mark St, Keilor East ⏰ Time: 9:30–11:30am 📸 Please note: We may take a photo or two for NIMBA funding and newsletter purposes.
